Current Responsibilities
Lars van den Berg is senior consultant in the Amsterdam office of Milliman. He joined Milliman in January 2024 and is responsible for a wide variety of projects and assignments for (corporate) clients. Before Milliman, Lars worked for more than 12 years in the pension business (including IFRS and IAS19).
Lars has skills that are focused on assets (derivatives, loans, illiquid assets, IBOR transition) and liabilities (WTP, IFRS, and Solvency II). He is an expert in providing external and internal trainings in these areas.
Relevant skills
Lars specializes in advising and certifying pension funds. In addition, he advises companies, social partners, and pension funds in the design and financing of their pension scheme, as well as in the areas of cost projections, valuations, solvency, risk management, and the administration of their pension scheme.
In the past, he performed GIPS verifications for several asset managers which serve pension funds in the Netherlands. In addition, he was responsible for the assessment of the performance and benchmark calculations for different asset managers of pension funds.
Lars is an expert in the actuarial assurance of corporates (IFRS and IAS19) life insurance companies and pension funds. He is also skilled in required own funds (Vereist eigen vermogen) validations for pension funds and wholesale securities services.
Relevant experience
Lars worked on multiple certifications of pension funds in the Netherlands. He performed employee benefit valuations (IFRS, US GAAP, NL GAAP, IAS19) for numerous corporate clients for more than 12 years. He has extensive knowledge of IFRS, IAS19, and the Dutch Pension Law.
Lars performed actuarial support for audits of pension funds and insurers in the Netherlands and abroad, Solvency II, IFRS 17, IAS19 valuations, and actuarial certification of pension funds.
